After Monday's Class

Hi Linkers!

How are you?  Did you notice how the w connects to the a in How and Are? So it sounds like Ho Ware?

Try saying this dialogue aloud - to a roommate, for example:

SQUID: I_had_an_apple_and_a_cup_of_orange juice.
WILMA: I_know.
SQUID: My_cup_is_empty.
WILMA: Henry_drank_it.
SQUID: Henry_stole_it.
WILMA: That's_a_matter_of_opinion.

Fun, right?

Also, say these phrases:

wake up and way cup
mice eat and my seat

Do the phrases sound identical or different? I'll ask you in class on Wednesday.

Check out the homework page for your assignments, but post your listening log here.

August 23rd

Hi everyone!

I hope you have wonderful plans for the weekend! Remember not to get ripped off, messed up or end up paying for something through the nose!

And see how much fun it is to use our new vocabulary?

We are having another quiz on Monday. To prepare, look over your corrections on the last quiz, and also review the vocabulary on page 29 and 33, plus the listening exercise - transcript on page 224 - about the pet peeves of the four speakers.

Remember to post your listening log here.

Your homework is on the homework page.

If you give your speech about one of our featured links on Monday, remember to include the elements we discussed yesterday. They can be found on the Speech format page at http://lspucla.blogspot.com/p/websiteyoutube-speech-format.html.

See you on Monday!

Monday August 20th - after class

Another great class! Great discussions. I learned a lot about your cultures.

Thank you, Sara for your speech. Remember to send us the web address who we can find out who won in the end. And three more lucky people will give their speeches on Wednesday.

Check out the homework page for your homework.

For this page, you will post two messages:

1) your listening log

2) A summary of your notes on the questions on page 18.

See you Wednesday!

Also, a reminder to put your listening log comments to this post.

Next week, by your vote, we are going to continue on to chapter two: Let's Get Away!
