Six Week Summer

Welcome to the American Language Center!  Your listening, speaking, and pronunciation class meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 1:00 to 2:50 p.m.  Here is information about the class.

MATERIALS:  Real Talk  1,  by  Judy Tanka, Lida Baker

COURSE DESCRIPTION

 In this class you will work on your listening and speaking skills.  You will do interactive exercises based on authentic audio and video recordings.  You will participate in group discussions, learn new idioms and academic vocabulary, and work on key pronunciation features of English.

Sample Listening & Speaking Activities

 * Listening to conversations, radio broadcasts, live lectures

* Viewing and comprehending short video segments

* Discussing topic based on listenings or viewing activities

            * Taking notes

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

              * Active participation in listening speaking activities

              * Attending class at  least 80% of the time

              * Arriving on time

              * Observing the Student Conduct policy in the ALC Student Handbook, page 12

              * Completing all quizzes and homework assignments

GRADES

                 Pass/Not Pass, based on attendance and participation.
